Solution:

Problem:

Reah displays the following error message in strange language:

Error message

Solution:

Accidentally, we left one of the error messages in Polish. The English translation is:

Critical error

Internal program error has occurred

Possible solutions:
1. Free more space on disk C:
2. Check CD-ROM disc
3. Clean CD-ROM drive
4. Reinstall DirectX drivers
5. Reinstall game
6. Reinstall Windows

In most of the cases the first solution resolves the problem - the system needs more free space for the swap file in order to satisfy Reah's memory requirements. Usually the swap file is created on disk C:, therefore you should make more space on that drive or on any drive you configured for your swap file. Also if you set up the permanent swap file with the fixed size, increase its size.

Some users also get this message in case when some of Windows multimedia components are not installed. Make sure that you installed all multimedia components from Windows 95/98 setup disc. In order to do so, start Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs, select Windows Setup tab and then check Multimedia Components checkbox. When some of them are missing, the system will ask for Windows Setup disc and install the missing stuff.

This message is displayed in English in some versions of the game. There're no localized versions of this particular error message, all others are localized though.

Problem:

Reah doesn't display anything - black screen.

Solution:

It happens when some of Windows multimedia components are not installed.

Sometime such behavior signals serious problems with DirectX drivers, video card or sound card drivers. Make sure you are using the latest available version of the drivers for your video and sound card.

Problem:

The game warns me that the drivers for my sound card are not fully DirectX compatible.

Solution:

Such incompatibility may lead to serious problems with the game, even to crashing, but this is only a warning and you can dismiss the message window pressing OK button and continue at your own risk. Unfortunately, due to the bug, sometimes the game displays sequentially the same warning in several languages but all of them can be dismissed and the game will eventually continue.

We strongly recommend contacting your sound card vendor and obtaining the drivers fully supporting DirectX (DirectSound).
